Robinho turns down move to Turkey

Robinho’s future at Manchester City is still unclear after he turned down concrete offers from Besiktas and Fenerbahce.

The Brazil striker, who is currently training alone at Manchester City, is reported to be holding out for a move to Italy or Spain.

City were scheduled to meet with Fenerbahce today to discuss a £16 million move for the most expensive player in English football. However, the 26-year-old's comments scuppered any possible deal.

‘With all due respect to Turkish football, I'm not going to play there right now,’ Robinho said. ‘Fenerbahce have sent me an official proposal, but I already decided that I will not take it up.’

‘There are other conversations going on and a week gives me a lot of time yet. The only thing I can say for certain is that I will continue in Europe, either in Italy or Spain.’

Barcelona and Milan have both been linked with the former Real Madrid player in the past, however, it appears unlikely that either club will be willing to spend big on a mercurial talent ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
