Robinho joins Santos on loan

Manchester City striker Robinho has rejoined his former club Santos on loan for six months. The Brazil international, who joined City back in 2008 for a Premier League record fee of £32.5m, will link up with his new club on Sunday.

Robinho struggled to settle in Spain during his time at Real Madrid and has been an expensive flop at Eastlands. However, City manager Roberto Mancini made it clear that the Brazilian will return to the Premier League: 'Robinho is someone who needs to be playing regularly and we wish him well for the period of his loan.'

Despite scoring 15 goals last season Robinho's form dipped dramatically in the second half of the season and he lost his place in the City first team during the current campaign. The player's nadir came against Everton earlier this month when he came on as a substitute only to be replaced 15-minutes later.
