Robben 'will certainly not join Tottenham'
Arjen Robben won't be joining Tottenham according to the Real Madrid winger's father. The La Liga side are said to be looking to offload up to nine players following the marquee signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Robben and his Dutch team-mate Klass-Jan Huntelaar have both been linked with a move to White Hart Lane over the last few days, but the former Chelsea winger's father Hans rubbished the claims in an interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
"Absolute nonsense" Robben senior said. "We don't talk with Tottenham. At the moment we don't talk with any club. Of course, things can change overnight, but one thing is sure: Arjen will certainly not join Tottenham."
While the comments would appear to put the kibosh on any possible transfer, back in 2004 Hans notably said: "My son will go to Chelsea over my dead body. He'd rather play in PSV's reserves than for Chelsea." Less than a month later, however, Robben Jr. joined the Blues in a deal worth £12m.
