Real Madrid set to make world record bid for Ronaldo
Real Madrid look set to end months of speculation about their interest in Cristiano Ronaldo by making a world record bid of £75 for the Manchester United winger.
The Spanish giants completed the signing of Brazilian star Kaka earlier this week and club president Florentino Perez now looks committed to adding Ronaldo to the club's books.
Speaking to Spanish radio station RNE, Perez made it clear that he will make an official approach to Manchester United this week: "I have not yet spoken to them (United) but I will do it in the coming days."
While the Premier League champions have consistently claimed that the 24-year-old is not for sale, with the club's chief executive David Gill recently stating: "He [Ronaldo] is not for sale. He is a great player and he is part of our club", United could find it difficult to turn down an offer of £75m if Ronaldo is determined to leave Old Trafford.
