QPR impress in 0-0 draw with Newcastle United

Queens Park Rangers look set to be another attraction for West London football this season, after their August spending spree brought in some star players. The hoops drew 0-0 with Newcastle United at home last night, but the manner in which they played has drawn plaudits from all over the country.

Of the club's six new signings on the pitch yesterday, Shaun Wright-Phillips was the star of the show, creating chance after chance for his team-mates, but Joey Barton also looked impressive in the centre of midfield. If they carry on playing like that then survival will be more or less assured, and manager Neil Warnock was extremely happy with how things turned out.

'I really enjoyed the game, that's what football is about - excitement,' said Warnock. 'We should have scored some goals, but you can't ask for everything. To put five or six new players (into the side) in 10 days we couldn't have asked for a better performance and I think the crowd will go home happy. I was delighted in the end.'
