Aviva Premiership rugby returns

Rugby fans will be pleased to be informed that they will have to wait only a little longer until Aviva Premiership rugby will commence again with London Irish taking on Harlequins to get us underway on September 3rd.

The Saracens were the eventual champions of last years competition and will certainly be the team to beat this year as they go in search of winning consecutive titles. The 2011/2012 season is inevitably going to be fascinating with twists and turns along the way keeping you gripped to your chair as you cheers on your team in the hope that they can reach the elusive final at Twickenham.

Last years final saw Saracens secure a 22-18 victory over a formidable Leicester side who had won the competition 9 times before. Over 80,000 fans witnessed a great final in which neither team really deserved to lose, but knockout rugby means one team will be left disappointed and Leicester were left deflated after a long hard season. It was mixed fortunes for Leicester Tigers and England player Alesana Tuilagi who finished as top try scorer in the competition with an impressive 13 tries that saw him catch the eye of England coach Martin Johnson.
