Portsmouth crashed out of the UEFA Cup last night going down 3-2 away to Wolfsburg. Veteran goalkeeper David James produced another howler to hand victory to the Bundesliga side.
Wolfsburg went ahead through Edin Dzeko and Arnold Mvuemba before Jermain Defoe and Christian Gentner got Portsmouth back on level terms. Tony Adams side only needed a draw to reach the last 32 of the UEFA Cup and things were looking good until James' blunder.
The England keeper had a moment of madness in the 74th minute when he failed to control a back pass which Zvjezdan Misimovic took advantage of and scored into the empty net. Wolfsburg are now top of Group E with Milan in second place.
