O'Gara to captain the Lions against the Emerging Springboks

Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara will captain the British and Irish Lions in their final midweek match against the Emerging Springboks tomorrow evening.

While the tourists' XV features none of the players who started in the narrow first Test loss to the Springboks at the weekend, it's the last chance for a number of Lions to stake a claim for a place in the match 22 for the crucial second Test in Pretoria on Saturday.

Replacement props Tim Payne and John Hayes will start in the front row while Welsh fly-half James Hook has been passed fit and will start the game on the bench. Both Andy Powell and Martyn Williams in the back row will be hoping to impress the management while wingers Luke Fitzgerald and Shane Williams know that they with a good performance tomorrow either of them could replace Ugo Monye in the Test XV.

British and Irish Lions team to play the Emerging Springboks at Newlands, Cape Town, on Tuesday 23 June at 6.10pm: Keith Earls, Shane Williams, Riki Flutey, Gordon D'Arcy, Luke Fitzgerald, Ronan O'Gara (Captain), Harry Ellis, Andy Powell, Martyn Williams, Joe Worsley, Nathan Hines, Donncha O'Callaghan, John Hayes, Ross Ford, Tim Payne. Replacements: Lee Mears, Phil Vickery, Simon Shaw, David Wallace, Mike Blair, James Hook, Ugo Monye.
