The Lions squad to take on South Africa during the summer is set to be named tomorrow at lunchtime with Ireland lock Paul O'Connell favourite to lead the side.
Head coach Ian McGeechan will be hoping that the Munster man can follow in the footsteps of Martin Johnson and Willie John McBride who captained the Lions to victory over South Africa from the second row.
O'Connell looks set to get the nod over his Ireland team-mate Brian O'Driscoll as well as Wales No 8 Ryan Jones who has had a disappointing season. While O'Connell does not captain Ireland he led Munster to Heineken Cup glory last year.
McGeechan is known for including a surprise or two in his Lions squads and while there has been a lot of speculation about the inclusion of the out of favour Danny Cipriani it looks unlikely that Mr Kelly Brook will be on the plane. One surprise name that could be on the list is Munster utility back Keith Earls who been in outstanding form in the Heineken cup.
