Not scared

Manchester United gaffer Alex Ferguson has said that he doesn’t fear Champions League final opponents Barcelona.

United beat Schalke 04 4-1 at Old Trafford last night to win 6-1 on aggregate, and to set up a monstrous clash of the titans at Wembley on 28 May. Barca have looked more or less unstoppable all season, and will be odds on favourites to reclaim the trophy they see as rightfully theirs, but Ferguson has been chatting to José Mourinho and will be taking tips and hints on how to stop them.

‘I don't think we should be going there lacking in confidence,’ Ferguson said. ‘We are playing a fantastic team but we can't be frightened out of our skins. Their form is there for everyone to see. Our job is to find a solution.

‘I speak to him (Mourinho) quite a lot. I spoke to him last week. I think we will depend on our own knowledge of Barcelona. It's not as if we haven't seen them before. We've watched them many times this season.

‘But the experience Real Madrid have from Jose's angle, you always take information from him like that because he is very helpful in that way.’
