Germany hammer England 4-0 at European Under 21 final06:13 Tue 30 June 2009 England's Under-21 team were hammered 4-0 by Germany this evening in Malmo at the European Championship final. Gonzalo Castro put the Germans ahead after some excellent build up play from Mesut Ozil. Ozil put Germany 2-0 up early into the second half with a free-kick which England keeper Scott Loach completely misjudged and could only palm into the net. Lee Cattermole hit the bar for Stuart Pearce's side but Germany countered quickly with Ozil again at the centre of things. The midfielder played a perfect ball to Sandro Wagner who shot through Loach's legs to put Germany 3-0 up. The striker scored a late fourth to secure an impressive brace. England were missing forwards Gabriel Agbonlahor and Fraizer Campbell as well as goalkeeper Joe Hart through suspension and all three were sorely missed. Leave a comment
