Chelsea and Manchester United draw 1-110:05 Mon 22 September 2008 Chelsea got a late equaliser against Manchester United through Salomon Kalou to maintain their impressive run of 85 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge without defeat. But it was the challenge for the League title that already seemed to be at stake even at this early stage of the season. Both teams played with a dogged determination of sides intent on lifting the Premiership trophy next May. Chelsea were without Deco and Ricardo Carvalho went off injured in the first half. United looked set to take advantage and cut off the attacking runs of Ashley Cole and Jose Bosingwa which had been so effective in Chelsea's opening games of the season. United took the through Park after Cech had failed to hold a Berbatov effort. It looked as if Alex Ferguson's side were going to hold on after Chelsea spurned a number of good chances in front of goal, but substitute Kalou who got on the end of a John Obi Mikel cross to level the score. Don't be surprised if these two teams are still battling it out for the title in nine months time. |
