Ferguson holds crunch talks with Ronaldo16:46 Fri 18 July 2008 Sir Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo are set to meet face-to-face for the first time since May. The Manchester United manager is hoping to convince the Portugal winger to reject Real Madrid's overtures and remain with the Premier League champions. The United manager is believed to have flown to Lisbon for crunch talks with the 23-year-old 2008 PFA Player of the Year. Ronaldo is currently recovering from ankle surgery which will see him miss the first three months of the season. Despite Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder snubbing the idea of the Portugal international's arrival at the Bernabeu, Madrid president, Ramón Calderón, has claimed that the deal to sign Ronaldo has been completed. Ferguson, however, will be hoping that he still has time to convince Ronaldo to change his mind. |
