Inter make £7.9m bid for Lampard10:05 Wed 09 July 2008 New Chelsea boss, Luiz Felipe Scolari, held his first press conference as Chelsea boss with Jose Mourino's shadow hanging over proceedings after Inter Milan made a £7.9m offer for Frank Lampard. Yesterday morning Chelsea said that the England midfielder wasn't for sale under any circumstances. Later Scolari told reporters that he had held talks with Lampard and that the 30-year-old wanted to remain at the London club. But the new Chelsea boss' declaration backfired when sources close to Lampard claimed that the England player had been misrepresented. A number of meetings between Scolari, Peter Kenyon and Lampard were needed to diffuse the situation. Both Chelsea and Inter have offered Lampard a four-year contract, but the London club's deal doesn't currently meet the player's wage demands according to The Daily Mail. So it looks as if the Lampard to Inter Milan soap opera is going to continue for another few weeks. |
