Aston Villa are reported to be interested in signing West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green after Scott Carson returned to Liverpool. Villa were said to be interested in signing Paul Robinson from Spurs.

Robinson has been told that he can leave the north London club following Spurs' signing of Brazilian keeper Heurelho Gomes from PSV Eindhoven last week. The former England No1, who is hoping to revive his career at a new club, would cost in the region of £6m.

But it looks as if the Birmingham club have set their sights on West Ham's player of the year in their hunt to sign a new goalkeeper. The former Norwich player would also cost around £6m and is another player hoping to strengthen his international prospects with a move to a new club.
