Chelsea have signed Portugal playmaker Deco on Luis Felipe Scolari's first day in charge at the club. The 30-year-old has signed from Barcelona on a two-year contract worth £8m.

Brazilian born Deco fell out of favour at Barcelona last year but was in outstanding form for Portugal at Euro 2008 and is viewed as Scolaris on field lieutenant. The signing of calls into question Frank Lampard's future at Chelsea.

The England international is currently on holiday in Italy and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho's top transfer target at Inter Milan. Lampard and Ricardo Carvalho have both been linked with summer moves to the San Siro and it remains to be seen if Scolari can convince them to remain at Chelsea.
