Spurs sign Gomes from PSV Eindhoven15:30 Fri 27 June 2008 Tottenham have signed PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes subject to the Brazilian passing a medical and being granted a work permit. The 27-year-old has won 17 caps for Brazil and holds the record for the most clean sheets in the history of the Dutch Eredivisie. The arrival of Gomes, whose penalty save knocked Spurs out of this year's Uefa Cup, means the end of Paul Robinson's time at the North London club. Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Manchester City have all been linked with the England international. Gomes will link up with Luka Modric and Giovanni Dos Santos in a new look Spurs team. They could also be joined by Blackburn's David Bentley after Tottenham offered Aaron Lennon and a wad of cash in exchange for the ex-Arsenal trainee. Gomes in action |
