Wimbledon 2008: Chris Eaton hoping for another shock win15:34 Thu 26 June 2008 British No 1 Andy Murray takes on Xavier Malisse today at Wimbledon but most of the public attention will be on rank outsider Chris Eaton's game with Dmitry Tursunov. Eaton, ranked No 661 in the world, pulled off a shock straight-sets win over Serbia's Boris Pashanski on Tuesday. The 20-year-old from Surrey had to win six qualifying matches just to qualify for the Grand Slam tournament. No matter what the result today, Eaton, who has won just £2,700 in his tennis career, will pick up a cheque for £17,000. While the public are bound to be on the side of rank outsider Eaton today No 25 seed Tursunov is used to being public enemy No 1 in Britain after dumping Tim Henman out of Wimbledon back in 2005. If Eaton does manage to pull off another shock win today he will set up a showdown with No 6 seed Andy Roddick. |
