England tour hit by off field controversy12:15 Wed 18 June 2008 England's tour to New Zealand has been hit by off field controversy. The Guardian reports that four unnamed players are under investigation for an incident in their hotel room in Auckland following the 37-20 loss to the All Blacks. The nature of the incident being investigated is still not clear although The Guardian said that a "serious allegation" has been made. Caretaker manager Rob Andrew said that the England management fully support the players without being drawn further on the matter. Last week a local radio station in Auckland alleged that England prop Andrew Sheridan had been seen out drinking into the small hours only 72 hours ahead of last week's demolition at the hands of the All Blacks. The news of another allegation of off field misconduct is the last thing England needed ahead of Saturday's second test against the All Blacks. |
