England well beaten by the All Blacks11:43 Mon 16 June 2008 England were beaten 37-20 by the All Blacks in Auckland on Saturday. Winger Topsy Ojo scored two tries on his England debut which helped to hide the gulf in class between the two teams at least on the scoreboard. The All Blacks hit back against their critics following their lacklustre win over Ireland at Wellington last week. Daniel Carter was back to his best scoring a try, four conversions and three penalties. Conrad Smith, Sitiveni Sivivatu and Ma'a Nonu also touched down for the All Blacks. Steve Borthwick's team were unable to cope with the pace at which the New Zealand side played in the first 60 minutes and it looked as if the All Blacks were set to notch up a record score against a tired looking England side. But England held out and the All Blacks took their foot of the gas. Big improvement will be needed if England are to compete in Christchurch next weekend. New Zealand 37 England 20 |
