Petr Cech set for crunch talks over Chelsea future10:58 Tue 13 May 2008
Arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, Cech has two years left on his current Chelsea contract and is looking for a wage increase before he accepts the London club's offer of a two-year contract extension. The loss of Cech would be a bitter pill for Chelsea to swallow and it is likely that his wage demands will be met in the contract negotiations which will take place following the Champions League final next week. Chelsea have already started there annual spending spree, announcing the signing of the Portugal international Jose Bosingwa from Porto for £16.2m yesterday. The main speculation at the club is whether Avram Grant will be the manager next season. He is set for talks with the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich on Friday with rumours that the Israeli will return to his position as director of football with the now unemployed Frank Rijkaard moving from the job centre to the Chelsea bench.
