But the news that local MP Lembit Opik - the one that is having a go on one of the Cheeky Girls - has tabled a Commons motion praising Goodwin's free kick as one of the "greatest and most spectacular goals" in British football history is stretching things a wee bit. Not wanting to take anything away from Goodwin's moment of glory, but you'd swear a goalie had never scored before in the history of football. What next? Paul Robinson to be knighted for his goal against Watford? Paraguayan legend José Chilavert to be awarded an OBE for services to goalscoring goalies?
