Manchester United take on Barcelona at the Nou Camp13:21 Wed 23 April 2008 Manchester United take on Barcelona tonight at the Nou Camp in the second Champions League semi-final. But Alex Ferguson may have to start the game without two of his first choice defenders, Nemanja Vidic and Wes Brown, who both missed training last night.
The absence of Vidic would be a real blow to United as the Serbian and Rio Ferdinand have formed one of the meanest defences in the Premiership this year. If Vidic fails a late fitness test his place in the starting line up will probably be taken by the relatively inexperienced Gerard Piqué with John O'Shea coming in for Brown. Manchester United and Barcelona served up two cracking 3-3 draws during the group stages in 98. And while the stars of those games, Rivaldo, Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole and Beckham, have all since moved on, hopefully two of football's brightest talents, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, will be able to serve up some footballing eye candy this evening.
