Steve Harmison is out of sorts on the England tour of New Zealand – and it turns out his homesickness is the cause.

We sympathise. He’s a dad of four and it must be difficult being away from his nippers for so long, and to have to perform at the highest level. But, if you choose to make a career of playing international cricket, what choice have you got but to go on tour? He should be dropped, of course, and simply left to play county cricket.

Funny, though, because the England skipper is going to turn into an Elliot Ness-type character when making selections: “I don’t want men with families. Only single men, you hear me.”
