Kop that!!11:07 Wed 20 February 2008
Barnsley who? Rafa must be as a happy
as a pig in the proverbial you know what when the Champions League
kicks back into gear. The tabloids and the broadsheets both praise
Liverpool's hard fought 2-0 victory over city slickers Inter Milan
last night. The result was a gift from the gods for the under
pressure Benitez. The Reds were solid in a tight game.
Inter's panto villain and part-time defender Marco Materazzi
was sent-off after half an hour. No stranger to controversy, Materazzi
was on the receiving end of Zidane's Glasgow kiss in the 2006 World
Cup final. Cordoba was stretchered off for Inter in the second half after committing hari kari Dida style, setting the game up for a sensational finish. Kuyt and Stevie G hit the back of the onion bag to crown another famous European night for the Kop faithful. Elsewhere the FC Chelski boys and Olympiakos ground out a result like a couple of honeymooners dirty dancing to DJ Reggaeton. Not really, it was a boring 0-0 draw. Girlfriends and wives across the nation will be watching Corrie in the upstairs bedroom again as the footballing fun continues tonight! The Gunners host AC Milan and Utd are away to Lyon.
