Second Saturday predictions

16:52 Fri 08 February 2008

Here’s what we know will happen tomorrow and Sunday in the rugby.

England will keep the ball in the forwards and batter away at the Italians. It’ll be a war of attrition that the English will win, by a short margin. The Italians will be praised for their valiant, ultimately unpolished efforts.

Wales will be over-confident, after a lucky win last week. They’ll struggle to match an emerging Scottish pack and resort to spinning the ball wide from all the wrong places with the scraps they get. Scotland will look good for a bit – fiery, dogged and organised – but inevitably fail to capitalise on their fleeting superiority and lose by half a dozen points.

Ireland will get hammered.

Don’t agree? Think we’re wrong? Well, put us straight then…
