Newcastle drop back into the bottom three
Newcastle United's relegation woes continued as they were beaten 1-0 by Fulham at St James' Park. Despite beating fellow relegation battlers Middlesbrough during the week the Magpies now find themselves back in the bottom three.
Alan Shearer's side failed to build on their midweek performance and were completely outplayed by Roy Hodgson's side. Diomansy Kamara got the all important goal which keeps the Cottagers in the running for a European place next season.
Newcastle went close on 14 minutes when Obafemi Martins hit the post and then Mark Viduka had a header disallowed for offside in the second half, but Fulham were well worth the three points.
Hull's 1-1 draw with Bolton at the Reebok means that Boro are all but relegated and Newcastle will need to get a result next Sunday away at Aston Villa if they have any hope of playing Premier League football next season.
