Despite having been written off as a foul mouthed 'has been' by most of the English press, Joe Kinnear inspired Newcastle United to an impressive draw with Manchester City last night at St James' Park.
The home side went 1-0 down after fourteen minutes and were reduced to ten men when Habib Beye fouled Robinho from behind in the box. The Brazilian made no mistake from the penalty spot.
While Newcastle may have rolled over in the past, Kinnear's ten men stepped it up a gear and levelled through Ameobi before a spectacular own goal from Richard Dunne put their noses ahead. In the end City needed a late moment of magic from Robinho and Stephen Ireland's sublime finish to spare their blushes.
