New Zealand hammer France 39-12

New Zealand hammered France 39-12 in Marseille last night. The All Blacks scored five unanswered tries to run away with what had been a close fought game in the opening exchanges.

France started well and took an early lead thanks to the boot of scrum half Julien Dupuy, but the All Blacks, wearing unfamiliar white jerseys, came storming back with tries from Sitiveni Sivivatu, Mils Muliaina and Jerome Kaino to lead 22-12 at half time.

Muliaina scored the try of the game in a move which underlined the quality of the All Blacks backline. Breaking out from his own 22 Sivivatu beat the French cover for pace before putting Muliana into the gap for a brilliant counterattacking move.

New Zealand controlled the second half and were their dominance was rewarded when both Cory Jane and Conrad Smith dotted down to put the game beyond the reach of the home side. France's points, on a disappointing night for Marc Lievremont's team, all came from the boot of Dupoy.
