Andy Murray produced another impressive performance yesterday to beat Gilles Simon of France to win the Madrid Masters. The victory makes the 21-year-old Scot the first British player to win four ranking tournaments in a season.
Having beaten Roger Federer in Saturday's semis Murray went into the final brimming with confidence. But Simon didn't make it easy for the British No1 showing all of the skill that had helped him knock world No1 Rafael Nadal out of the tournament.
The match was tight but Murray's battling determination and will to win gave him the upper hand. At 21 there is still so much more to come from the plucky Scot and he is finally delivering on his early promise.
