Andy Murray won the Masters Series last night in Cincinnati overcoming world No3, Novak Djokovic, 7-6 (7/4) 7-6 (7/5) in a thrilling final. The win sees the British No1 move up to sixth place in the world rankings.
Murray produced a stunning performance but needed six match points to take victory and the title after dominating the match. Djokovic, who beat Rafael Nadal in the semi-final, struggled to get a foothold in the game and couldn't get to grips with the subtleties of Murray's game.
The victory made Murray only the third British tennis player to win a Masters Series after Greg Rusedski and Tim Henman. But the Scot has the ability to achieve much more than either of the his predecessors.
