Murray through to semi-final

Andy Murray has cruised into the semi-finals of Wimbledon for the first time in his career after a straight sets win over Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Murray put in his most impressive performance of the tournament far, disposing of Ferrero with the minimum of fuss 7-5, 6-3, 6-2, and the world number three was justifiably pleased.

'Both of us were sloppy at the start, but once I got my first set under my belt I settled down,' said Murray. 'To get to the semi-finals for the first time is nice, and hopefully I can get further.'

The Scot also said that his experience at the US Open this season should stand him in good stead for his semi-final, where he will play either Leyton Hewitt or Andy Roddick.

'You try and focus on each match, at the US Open I played the number one in the world, so I know it'll be tough now too. Both Roddick and Hewitt are tough, former world number ones and grand slam winners, so I hope they have long matches.'
