Murray makes French Open last 16

Andy Murray has made it through to the last 16 of the French Open after beating Marcos Baghdatis in four sets, 6-2 6-3 0-6 6-2. The Scot will now meet Tomas Berdych in the fourth round, after a match that, apart from an astonishingly bad third set, he dominated. Despite this, there is still cause for worry from Murray fans; there were passages of extreme inconsistency that will be punished later on in the tournament is he doesn’t cut them out.

‘I just got off to a bad start, got broken a couple of times and then it's not like you're not trying, it's just that being a double-break down but a couple of sets up you want to make sure you're fresh right until the end of the match,’ said Murray, rather unconvincingly. ‘I conserved some energy, went for more than normal and made a few more mistakes at the end of the set.

‘Once I got back in it at the beginning of the fourth set, once I got the break back, I started hitting the ball a lot better. But he's a difficult guy to play against because he's a great shot-maker and very unpredictable, so you need to be focused all the time and I wasn't in the third set.’
