Modric signs new Spurs contract

Luka Modric has put pen to paper on a new six-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old Croatia midfielder was central to Spurs qualifying for the Champions League and has been linked to a number of high profile clubs around Europe.

The 24-year-old joined Tottenham in 2008 on a five-year deal from Dynamo Zagreb for a fee of £16.6m. However, Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus were all reported to have inquired about Modric’s availability.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has described Modric as the London club’s one world-class player and a vital cog to their chances of progressing into the group stages of next year’s Champions League.

The Croatia international recently married his long-term girlfriend and is reported to be settled in London stating that he has ‘no interest in going anywhere else’ after signing his new Spurs contract.
