Milan confirm their interest in Adebayor

Milan have confirmed that they have made an approach to Arsenal about a possible deal for Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor. While the Serie A club have made Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko their number one transfer target this summer, the Bundesliga side's reluctance to sell has left the Italians looking for alternatives.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed that the Italian side have now stepped up their interest in the 25-year-old Arsenal striker. "We don't have any agreement with Dzeko," said Galliani. "He is a Wolfsburg player. Dzeko has expressed his liking for a move here but at this moment there are no negotiations yet. We wrote to Wolfsburg and they responded that he is not for sale."

Galliani continued: "If Wolfsburg change their minds we have agreed they will call Milan. If they do I am ready to immediately leave and go there. Adebayor and [Sevilla striker] Luis Fabiano are the alternatives. For Adebayor there has been a telephone call, during which [Arsenal manager Arsène] Wenger was friendly."
