Michael Owen scores his second goal for United
Michael Owen's good start in a Manchester United shirt continued this afternoon when the former Liverpool striker scored his second goal for the club in as many games as the Premier League side beat a Malaysia XI 2-0.
Federico Macheda opened the scoring for United on eleven-minutes when he controlled a Darren Fletcher cross before firing home from six-yards out. Just two-minutes later Owen capitalized on some sloppy defending following a Zoran Tosic cross to continue his scoring streak.
The fox in the box came close to grabbing a second goal from another Tosic cross but saw his shot cannon back off the post. Macheda also impressed and Ferguson was quick to talk up the young Italian's qualities: "Macheda is top drawer, a hero in the making, just as Cristiano was," Ferguson said. "It is hard to believe he is just 17. We probably need to check his birth certificate because I reckon he is at least 28."
