Michael Owen delays Newcastle contract decision
Michael Owen's Newcastle future remains in doubt after the former England striker told the club that he will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether or not he wants to sign a new contract.
But the news has at least quashed rumours that the 29-year-old was set to leave St. James' Park in January. Owen also made it clear that he would be willing to take a pay cut if he decides to stay on Tyneside.
In a statement released on Monday Owen said: "I have no intention of leaving Newcastle United during the January transfer window and want to assure the fans that under Joe Kinnear's passionate management, I am committed with the rest of the players to ensure that the club ends the season on a high." What a great early Christmas present for the Toon Army.
