Manchester United crush West Ham to put the pressure on Chelsea

Manchester United crushed West Ham 4-1 on Saturday moving three points ahead of Chelsea with a game in hand. The win never looked in doubt for United with Cristiano Ronaldo opening the score after three minutes.

Former Hammer Carlos Tevez was the scourge of Alan Curbishley's team, working tirelessly throughout. United seemed to be able to open up the porous West Ham defence at will. Even after they were reduced to ten men following Nani's sending-off United still dominated proceedings.

Chelsea play Newcastle tonight knowing that anything less than a win will hand the title to Alex Ferguson and Manchester United. But having secured their place in the Champions League final in Moscow on May 21rst, Chelsea seem on the crest of a wave. A win over Newcastle would set up one of the most exciting Premiership final days in years.
