Manchester United become World Club Champions
Manchester United were crowned World Club Champions this morning in Japan when they beat LDU Quito 1-0 thanks to a brilliant Wayne Rooney goal sixteen minutes before the end.
The Champions League winners dominated the game against the Copa Libertadores champions becoming the first English team to win the Club World Championship in its current form.
Quito looked a bit suspect at the back, but United found it difficult to make inroads with South American keeper Jose Cevallos in inspired form, pulling off a string of saves to keep his team in the game.
United had Nemanja Vidic sent off four minutes into the second half for an elbow on Claudio Bieler, but Ronaldo teed up Rooney to finish past Cevallos sixteen minutes before the final whistle to secure his team's third trophy of the season.
