Manchester United beat Derby 4-1

Manchester United eased their way into the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 4-1 win over Derby at Pride Park this afternoon. Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to field a relatively inexperienced team paid off, with former trainees Darron Gibson and Danny Welbeck getting on the scoresheet.

But it was Portugal winger Nani, very much the forgotten man this season at Old Trafford, who opened the scoring with a 20-yard screamer. Cristiano Ronaldo also notched up his 15th goal of the season, but it was veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs who was the best player on the pitch.

Derby scored a late consolation goal through Miles Addison, but United didn't have to get out of second gear to knock out Nigel Clough's side and set up a quarter-final showdown with either Swansea or Fulham.
