Manchester United 2 Wolfsburg 1

Manchester United came from behind to beat a German champions VfL Wolfsburg 2-1 at Old Trafford to move top of Champions League Group B.

England midfielder Michael Carrick scored the winner 12 minutes from the end of full time when he latched onto a Ryan Giggs lay off before curling the ball into the top right hand corner.

Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko gave Wolfsburg the lead with a towering header on 56 minutes and it was no more than the away side deserved following an impressive first half display.

United were again indebted to veteran winger Giggs for making the difference in a tight match. The Wales midfielder equalized for the Premier League champions when his free kick deflected off Christian Gentner past Diego Benaglio in the Wolfsburg goal.

Giggs was also involved in United's winner; the 35-year-old transformed an over hit pass from Dimitar Berbatov to the perfect lay off for Carrick. The midfielder curled a perfect first-time right footed shot past the helpless Benaglio to seal a narrow victory.
