Manchester United 2 Blackurn Rovers 0

Manchester United bounced back from last week's defeat to Liverpool with an impressive 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney were the heroes on the day but United could have won by a bigger margin with substitutes Gabriel Obertan and Michael Owen missing a couple of gilt edged chances late on.

Despite dominating the game it took United 55 minutes to put their noses ahead when Berbatov latched onto a Patrice Evra shot before firing a volley past Paul Robinson in the Blackburn goal.

Wayne Rooney secured all three points for United two minutes before the end of normal time with a delicate finish from an Anderson cross. The result means that Sir Alex Ferguson's side keep the pressure up on title rivals Cheslea and Arsenal at the top of the table.
