Manchester City beat FC Copenhagen 2-1 at Eastlands (4-3 on aggregate) to book their place in the last-16 of the UEFA Cup. Craig Bellamy was the hero on the night scoring a brace which earned the Premier League's richest club a showdown with yet another Danish team, Aalborg.
The sides were goalless at half-time before Bellamy scored twice in the space of seven minutes to send the home fans wild. City boss Mark Hughes will be hoping that a good run in the UEFA Cup can at least put a polish on a frustrating league campaign.
Both Aston Villa and Tottenham's decision to play reserve teams in their return fixtures, against CSKA Moscow and Shakhtar Donetsk respectively, backfired with both teams crashing out. In contrast City fielded their best line-up and got their just rewards.
