Man City scrape into UEFA Cup quarter-finals
Manchester City scraped through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup on penalties after 120 minutes of football against Danish side Aalborg last night.
City were leading 2-0 from the first leg and made little effort to get an away goal which would of ended the tie. Watching paint dry would have been more interesting than the first 85 minutes of last night's match, but the game finally came to life when Luton Shelton pulled a goal back for Aalborg.
Ched Evans then handled in the box to hand the Danish side a lifeline and Michael Jakobsen made no mistake from the penalty spot to send the tie into extra time. City made no attempt to win the game during the 30 extra minutes, but luckily their keeper Shay Given was on the top of his game saving from Thomas Augustinussen and Shelton in the shoot-out to ensure the Premier League side's name in the quarter-final draw.
