Luca Toni linked with loan move to West Ham
Italian striker Luca Toni wants to join his compatriot Gianfranco Zola at West Ham United according to the Bayern Munich player's agent. The Italian international is said to be friends with Hammers boss Zola and is keen to play first team football ahead of next year's World Cup.
The 32-year-old former Fiorentina striker had been linked with £4m move to Tottenham but his transfer collapsed over his £90,000 per week wage demands. But West Ham are trying to hammer out a loan deal with Bayern picking up a substantial part of his wages.
Toni's place in the first team at the Allianz Arena could be under threat this season but he is anxious to make the Italian squad as they look to defend their world title next summer in South Africa. The player's agent Jose Alberti told TMW that a move could be on the cards: "I think it will happen. At Bayern (Toni) is not playing and Zola is a great friend of his."
