London Olympics 2012 - The Venues

The London 2012 Olympics venues are largely concentrated in the capital, but other cities in the UK will play their part. Most of the Olympic and Paralympic events will be staged at the Olympic Park in East London, others at a select group of venues across London, and at venues outside the capital for events such as football and water sports.

The Olympic Park will host the Aquatics Centre (diving, swimming and synchronised swimming), the Basketball Arena, the BMX Track, Eton Manor (wheelchair tennis), the Handball arena, the Hockey Centre, the Olympic Stadium (athletics), the Velodrome (cycling) and the Water Polo Arena.

Venues in London outside the Olympic Park are Earls Court (volleyball), the ExCel (boxing, fencing, judo, table tennis and weightlifting), Greenwich Park (equestrian events), Hampton Court Palace (road cycling), the House Guards Parade (beach volleyball), Hyde Park (triathlon and marathon swimming), Lord's Cricket Ground (archery), North Greenwich Arena (trampoline and wheelchair basketball), The Mall (road cycling and paralympic athletics), the Royal Artillery Barracks (shooting), Wembley Arena (badminton and rhythmic Gymnastics) and Stadium (football) and Wimbledon (tennis).

Several events will take place outside of London including Olympic football games at Hampden Park in Glasgow, City of Coventry Stadium, Old Trafford, Manchester, St James' Park, Newcastle and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Brands Hatch in Kent will host Paralympic Road Cycling, Eton Dorney near Windsor Castle will be the venue for the canoe and rowing events. The Lee Valley White Water Centre, in Hertfordshire, will host the canoe slalom and Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour in Dorset will accommodate sailing. Finally, Hadleigh Farm in Essex is the site of a new mountain bike course.
