Liverpool rumoured to have bid for Silva

Liverpool are rumoured to have tabled a bid for Valencia winger David Silva according to the player's agent. The Guardian reports that the Premier League club have made a £15m offer for the 23-year-old Spain international.

Speaking to Sky Sports Silva's agent, Jose Segui, admitted that Valencia have received a number of offers for his client: "At this time it is normal there are many stories in the papers about transfers, but the decision depends on Valencia."

But the player's agent continued: "It is certain that some clubs have asked about the boy, but he has a deal with Valencia and he is happy in the city."

The Reds were rumoured to have made contact with Valencia last season about a possible deal for the 23-year-old, but the La Liga club made the details of the offer public to try and start a bidding war for the winger.

The move left Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez fuming: "Our chief scout was in Valencia and talked with different people from the club but someone was talking too much. If we are going to look for someone we will not announce it to everyone - we will try to do it properly and secretly."

But with Valencia reported to be in over £350m of debt the deal now looks like it could be back on as Los Che look to cash in on one of their star players.
