The British and Irish Lions bounced back from a disappointing first half performance to beat the Sharks 39-3 in Durban making it four wins on the trot. The Super 14 side put in an excellent defensive effort in the first 40 minutes while the Lions squandered a number of quilt edged chances to score.
Despite dominating the opening exchanges both in terms of possession and territory the Lions went in at the break just 7-3 ahead thanks to a try from English hooker Lee Mears. Thankfully the second half was a more exciting affair with Mike Phillips, Luke Fitzgerald, Lee Byrne and Jamie Heaslip all dotting down.
Brian O'Driscoll and Jamie Roberts again combined well in the centre with the Irish captain creating scores for both Fitzgerald and Byrne. Out-half Ronan O'Gara also did his Test chances no harm with some tidy line kicking and 12 points with the boot
With the first Test against the Springboks just ten days away it looks as if tonight's team could give the biggest hint as to the possible starting XV.
