Lewis Hamilton wins Formula One world championship

Lewis Hamilton became the youngest ever driver to win the Formula One world championship yesterday afternoon in an unforgettable Brazilian Grand Prix at Lagos.

The 23-year-old driver needed a top five finish to take the driver's championship but was lying in sixth place at the start of the final lap. It looked as if it would be heartbreak again for Hamilton with Ferrari's Felipe Massa leading the race and set to be crowned world champion.

But two bends from the end the young Briton passed Timo Glock to clinch fifth place and the World Championship much to the delight of his family and McClaren team-mates. It was no more than Hamilton deserved after an outstanding season.
