Just when they thought they were out, they pulled them back in: Carlo Ancelotti has said that Manchester United aren’t quite out of site yet, and that he wants to take the title race down ot the last day of the season.
Chelsea host Tottenham on Saturday afternoon, and with United taking on Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday the Italian thinks it is the perfect time to put some pressure on the league leaders, who at one point looked completely out of sight.
‘We want to keep the Premier League open until the last minute and have the possibility to do this,’ said the Chelsea boss. ‘We have to beat Manchester United and Tottenham but this is our aim. Maybe Manchester United will win the title but we want to fight to the last minute.
‘It will be important for us and good motivation to play before them to put more pressure on Manchester United and their game on Sunday. It could be good to win and stay closer to them.
‘I know that Manchester United has experience and tradition and history to manage that pressure but for us it could be good. I remember when losing against Manchester United at the end of the first half (in the league game at Stamford Bridge) the gap was 18 points, To be three behind would be fantastic.’
